Bulletin Board System: FAQ

So what is a bulletin board system?

Remember when you were a kid and Mom had the chalkboard on the refrigerator? Your sister would write messages like: "Mom, cheerleading tonight. Be home at 9." Well, that is pretty much a bulletin board. Now a bulletin board system, or BBS, is an electronic chalkboard that allows people to communicate conveniently and easily. However, whereas e-mail is private and meant only for the intended recipient, bulletin board systems are public. Keep this in mind.

What can I talk about?

Bulletin board systems are usually topic-driven, as is the one on travelwriters.com. Discussion topics are open as long as they relate to travel writing and publishing.

Is this anonymous?

No. When you post a message, your username will be displayed. However, readers will not have access to any sensitive information, such as your mailing address or phone number.

I made a typo. Can I edit my post?

No, sorry. That incorrectly used "it's" will just have to be your scarlet "A." You are a writer, after all, so you should know better. For this reason, please make sure you proofread all posts to ensure proper grammar and spelling.

Can I delete a post?

No. Posts expire after a certain amount of time, but you cannot delete one. Make sure you're comfortable with the message before you post it. Don't be rash.

Can I post a new topic?

Of course. Click here.

Who uses the bulletin board system?

Travel writers registered at travelwriters.com. Although editors have access to it, the majority of users are travel writers.

What if I see an offensive post?

Travel writers are professionals, so one can hope that this will never happen. But if it does, e-mail editor@travelwriters.com and it will be removed immediately.

E-mail info@travelwriters.com.
