Introduction
Hi everyone, I'm Carina Javier, fondly called "Carrie" by my friends and colleagues in the travel industry. I'm a free-lance travel/feature writer based here in Quezon City, Philippines. Currently employed as the managing editor of "The Infolink," the in-house newsletter of a government agency focused on social welfare and development. I've been a professional journalist for the past two decades, opting to specialize in travel writing since I love to explore and see places, particularly destinations which are considered "off-the-beaten path." I'm in my forties, a solo parent of three handsome boys. I also dabble in photography, some gardening, cooking and enjoy surfing the net looking for great places and ideas. I hope that through my own webpage, editors out there would take notice of my work and photos.I've been published in several national newspapers and magazines here in the Philippines and is the founder of the Travel Writers Association of the Philippines or TWAP. Hope to hear from you all soon. God bless! MABUHAY!!!
Experience & Expertise
I have been a free-lance travel writer for more than two decades and have had my articles published in several publications here in the Philippines. I used to head a national association of travel writers called the Travel Writers Association of the Philippines or TWAP. p Our group has travelled to various places in the Philippines including remote seaside villages and mountain resorts and have found out that it is always exhilirating to discover off the beaten destinations. p As a travel writer, I have also covered colorful events like the "Pahiyas," "Dinagyang," "Ati-atihan," all colorful festivals in our country. I missed the opportunity of travelling to other countries whenever our Department of Tourism hosts familiarization tours to other countries for one reason or another but I'm still optimistic that I could experience sojourning in a foreign land. p I am currently employed as an Information Officer at a government agency and trying to re-ignite my passion for travel writing. p Perhaps I could start writing again and contributing to travel publications both here and abroad.
