Introduction
I'm a highly experienced journalist with extensive experience in copy writing, editing and layout. I have worked extensively throughout Asia and have in-depth experience at training and mentoring non-native English speakers in writing and journalism. I have held editor, news editor, copy editor, bureau chief, and COS roles. I am experienced in all aspects of news reporting - photography, videography, desktop video editing, radio, photo manipulation, writing, and editing. I was recently marketing director, content manager, and editor for a multi-facetted internet marketing and website development company responsible for international marketing of the company's services. These included three travel tourism websites, a wholesale product export sales website, and two internet website development websites. My work with this company entailed redesigning of some web sites, restructuring forums, training non-native English language writers, and the implementation of SEO and social networking strategies designed to improve keyword searching, search engine page rank and increasing website traffic.
Experience & Expertise
I've been a photo-journalist for more than 20 years and in that time held senior editorial positions including editor, news editor, CoS, bureau chief. My work has mostly been in Asia and Africa and has included covering the 1990 election riots in Zaire; the 1994 Rwandan genocide; the 1995 ebola outbreak in Zaire; the 1999 independence referendum in East Timor; the 2004 Asian Tsunami. I write my own text, shoot my own stills, and also shoot and edit video. I am very conversant with SEO and SN strategies and where required write my articles for maximum SEO and SN impact.
